Last summer, in the innocent time before sexist comments from Donald Trump had become a near daily occurrence, he vulgarly insulted Megyn Kelly of Fox News, with a reference to “blood coming out of her wherever.â€
Hours later, the conservative activist Erick-Woods Erickson disinvited Trump from the annual gathering that Erickson hosts. He invited Kelly (with whom he had previously clashed) in Trump’s place.
The reason was simple, Erickson said: Decency.
It is a standard that few Republican leaders have met this year. Even as Trump has unfurled one form of hateful language after another — even as he has bragged about sexually assaulting women — most Republican leaders have stood with him.

Donald Trump on Tuesday called for a constitutional amendment instituting congressional term limits. While speaking at a rally in Colorado Springs, Colo., the Republican nominee took what many perceive as a stab at House Speaker Paul Ryan—who has recently said he would stop defending the candidate following a string of accusations of sexual misconduct—by making a policy issue out of limiting the amount of time members of Congress can serve. “If elected President, I’ll push for a costitutional amendment to impose term limits on all members of Congress,†he said after listing off the five points of his ethics reform plan—first revealed Monday evening—which includes 5-year bans on lobbying by former executive-branch officials, members of Congress, and their staffs. All of these proposals, Trump said, would work towards his goal of “draining the swamp†in D.C., including Hillary Clinton, “the most corrupt person to ever run for president.â€
