Penn State was fined $2.4 million by the Department of Education on Thursday as part of a report which found that the university routinely failed to be transparent about reported crimes on campus from 1998 to 2011. That period of time coincided with a grand jury investigation of former assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky’s sexual abuse of children. It was a scathing rebuke of how the university violated the Clery Act, named after a Lehigh University student who was raped and murdered in 1986. The law says universities must compile crime stats and be transparent about reported rapes and sexual assaults on campus.
Always tell someone how you feel because opportunities are lost in the blink of an eye but regret can last a lifetime.
