The federal government’s decision to raise foreign ownership levels for domestic airlines is expected to eventually create a class of ultra low-cost domestic carriers where the cost of a ticket could compel you to go visit your family in Vancouver or Calgary more often.
Not only that, the government will also be introducing legislation that will spell out a traveller’s bill of rights, which will give passengers some remedies if they feel they’ve been wronged by a carrier.
These were among the initiatives announced Thursday in Montreal by Transport Minister Marc Garneau. These initiatives are expected to make air transportation more economically viable for a larger number of Canadians as well as spur Canada’s economic growth.
Always tell someone how you feel because opportunities are lost in the blink of an eye but regret can last a lifetime.
