NFL to Play 4 Games in London Next Season

The National Football League will continue its push to bring American football to the United Kingdom by playing four regular-season games in London next season, increasing from the recent trend of playing three per year. Teams and venues participating in the games will be announced early next week, the league said. The NFL began playing regular-season games in London in 2007, and has made it an annual tradition as the league seeks to expand its influence eastward. “We continue to be incredibly excited by the passion and love for the NFL shown by our millions of UK fans,” NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said in a statement. “London is an amazing city. We have had tremendous support from our fans, from Mayor [Sadiq] Khan and other government leaders and business partners, and we are looking forward to taking the next step in the UK by playing four games in London next season.” The league is also considering another Mexico-hosted game next season after this November’s Texans-Raiders game in Mexico City was considered a success, ESPN reported.
