Nav Bhatia, best known as the Raptor’s Ambassador and Superfan, has taken on the role of official World Vision Ambassador for the Rise Up Daughter’s of India project. As a well-loved member of the sporting community and known across North America for his devotion to his favourite team, Bhatia continues his tradition of helping others as he advocates for girls in India.
The Rise up Daughters of India project will help girls in India who do not have access to the necessities to attend school. Initially World Vision is looking to build proper washroom facilities in schools in the Punjab region of India. Without proper facilities in their schools, girls are often forced to leave campus throughout the day and risk their safety, health and dignity as they attend to a basic need. Many girls decide to drop out of school, rather than endanger themselves.
“I, myself have witnessed first-hand the bias against our daughters in India. My own daughter was adopted from an orphanage in India. By simply improving school facilities for girls we are showing to everyone a girl’s education is important. This is how important Rise up Daughters of India is,†said Superfan, Nav Bhatia.

“We’re honoured to partner with SuperfanNav Bhatia on this important initiative. Nav is using his voice to impact girls in his home country in a significant way. We hope Canadians are just as excited to get involved in keeping more Indian girls in schools,†said Elmer H Lighid, Rise up Daughters of India Project Lead, World Vision Canada.
On Dec 6, Nav Bhatia invited his closest friends to raise money for the initiative. Calling upon a long time colleague, Executive Chef Sanjeev Sethi (who graciously offered his new gastro-pub inspired Indian restaurant in Brampton, Firangi) Nav hosted a room of 70 donors. In addition to the guests, the Superfan welcomed his partners from Samsung Canada, Biosteel, Tissot Watches and Air Canada. Also in attendance to support Nav were Toronto Raptor’s Cory Joseph and Toronto FC’s Tosaint Ricketts.
