NEW YORK (AP) - A defiant Manhattan federal prosecutor, in announcing his firing after he refused to resign, says "absolute independence" was his touchstone for over seven years as he battled public corruption. Preet Bharara, 48, revealed his firing Saturday on his personal Twitter account. Several hours later, it was learned President Donald Trump had reached out through a secretary on his staff to Bharara on Thursday but the two men never spoke. The attempted contact - described by a person told about the conversations who requested anonymity - continued the unusual dynamic between Trump and the high profile prosecutor that stretched to Nov.

Props to Bharara! His courage and conviction should inspire all of us, and give us some degree of hope. Along with my fellow citizens of New York, I've watched this exemplary public servant go after crime and corruption from all corners. His intelligence and integrity have been hallmarks of his tenure.


Perhaps he will be the one who begins the revolt against this corrupt regime.C'mon you politicians, it's time to step up to bat.

Good that this SOB is fired . He only goes after Indians . He caused  a diplomatic incident with India when he went after an Indian diplomat , indicting her for some trumped  up charge that she  was underpaying her housekeeper. He also jailed a Sri Lankan born billionaire for  insider trading,the same thing that other wall street crooks were doing .
He never touched the Jews  with the exception of Bernie Madoff  brother who was already damaged goods because he dared to steal from  Jews.
  He is a Punjabi married to a woman of Pakistani , Jewish ancestry

Bharara was born in 1968 in Firozpur ,Punjab, India

TO a Sikh father and Hindu mother

His parents immigrated to the United States in 1970

he grew up in Eatontown in suburban Monmouth County, New Jersey

and attended Ranney School Tinton Falls, New Jersey

where he graduated as valedictorian in 1986

He received his B.A, magna cum laude from Harvard College in 1990

and his J.D. from Columbia Law School in 1993

During his first year in office, Bharara charged 17 managers and employees

of the Conference on Jewish Material Claims

for defrauding Germany 42.5 million dollars : by creating thousands of false

benefit applications for people who have not suffered in the Holocaust.

The fraud which has been going on for 16 years was related to the 400 million

dollars which Germany pays out each year to Holocaust survivors..

I kept closing my eyes and then rubbing and opening them again and sat transfixed as I watch that unbelievable partnership between John Campbell and Shai Hope. What a magnificent performance by these two! It just goes to show that patience, determination and effort can go a long way to improve the performances of the West Indies team.
