Russia Bans Jehovah’s Witnesses, Calling It an Extremist Group
By ANDREW HIGGINSAPRIL 20, 2017
MOSCOW — Russia’s Supreme Court on Thursday declared Jehovah’s Witnesses, a Christian denomination that rejects violence, an extremist organization, banning the group from operating on Russian territory and putting its more than 170,000 Russian worshipers in the same category as Islamic State militants.
The ruling, which confirmed an order last month by the Justice Ministry that the denomination be “liquidated†— essentially eliminated or disbanded, had been widely expected. Russian courts rarely challenge government decisions no matter what the evidence.
Viktor Zhenkov, a lawyer for the Christian group, said Jehovah’s Witnesses will appeal the ruling, which he said had focused on the activities of the organization’s so-called administrative center, a complex of offices outside St. Petersburg, but also branded all of its nearly 400 regional branches as extremist.
“We consider this decision an act of political repression that is impermissible in contemporary Russia,†Mr. Zhenkov said in a telephone interview. “We will, of course, appeal.†An initial appeal will be made to the Supreme Court’s appellate division, said Mr. Zhenkov, and if that fails, Jehovah’s Witnesses will take its case to the European Court of Human Rights, in Strasbourg, France.

Hard-line followers of Russia’s dominant faith, the Orthodox Church, have lobbied for years to have Jehovah’s Witnesses outlawed or at least curbed as a heretical sect, but the main impetus for the current campaign to crush a Christian group active in Russia for more than a century seems to have come from the country’s increasingly assertive security apparatus.
Founded in the United States in the 19th century, Jehovah’s Witnesses has its worldwide headquarters in the United States and, along with all foreign-led groups outside the control of the state, it is viewed with deep suspicion by Russia’s post-Soviet version of the KGB, the Federal Security Service, or F.S.B.

Caotain: what abotu why Russia bannded the Jehovahs ::confused:: ::confused:: ::confused:: ::confused::
what is the Russian case properly outlined ::confused:: ::confused:: ::confused::
this short report is a simple hatchet job that makes Russia look bad!
from my own experience I wud ban the Jehovah witnesses out form anywhere and everywhere. the JW wud have to prove that deh are legit by regular human standards and questions..for one: why are the JW not a house of prostitution ::confused::
the JW's bring you in and give you a wife and a husband. it is a major attraction to the faith. men who don't have and cant get women join up to get one.
also..why are JW's so unfriendly and hateful in normal discourse with others not of that faith ::confused:: ::confused::
the most incredible transformations I have noted in those who joined up the JW's..tests I used to know, regular guys who became the opposite of what they were after a few months in that church.
it was as if they were suddenly better, superior and we were unclean beats, to be contemptuous of, suspicious of, not to be trusted or kept as friends. also that black people are unclean and the JW's must not tarry with them.
I have seen this in operation fully, many times. I had a friend the most Marxists of people I knew. he is responsible for a lot of my attitude. I learned a lot from him. he became a JW. they gave him a wife. he had lots of trouble with women all his life. he was happy like pappy he had found one who would obey him. this skunt became the most unfriendly, hateful human you can imagine. this radical became the opposite of who he was, turned inside out
every JW I have ever known was the same. the JW is some sort of mind-bending cult hardly a religion, that uses sex to draw adherents..who would be people of the same kind..sick men and women who cant function in the regular world with any kind of success... especially with regard to see.
the JW's are also very secretive. their churches have only one door and I don't remember even windows on any of them I saw.. lord only knows what the hell it is they do up in those churches.
no society needs any dam organization like that going on in its midst. all churches must be open and available to all...must be capable of general examination by simple attendance by all... to take part and stay if they wish... or leave if they choose not to be part of it.
I wud kik deh rarse out too..without hesitation
