(Trinidad Guardian) The gruesome murders of 13-year-old Videsh Subar and his 56-year-old sitter Rose Mohammed have impacted on Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley, so much so that it has left him very disturbed and shaken.
Speaking at yesterday’s post-Cabinet media briefing, Rowley said he hoped the T&T Police Service can bring the perpetrators of the killings before the courts expeditiously.
The throats of Subar and Mohammed were slit by their killers at Mohammed’s Ajim Baksh Street, Malabar home on Wednesday during a home invasion.
Yesterday, Rowley said there were some new developments taking place in the country, some of which were not uplifting and disturbing.
“I am very, very shaken and disturbed with what happened in the East with that child and its guardian who were so brutally murdered, and it makes us wonder what kind of people we have become,†said Rowley, his voice dropping as he spoke.
Saying it is now standard practice that when violent and heinous crimes are committed there is a public demand that the Government do something about crime, Rowley said “that demand is understandable because people want to feel safe, people want to feel secure and people want to know that their families and their communities are protected from these things.â€
The PM said the interventions by individuals who make a decision to carry out such activities “shock us all the time.†He said whatever the Government has in place, be it prison, police or court “we are always surprised by these kinds†of murders.
In extending condolences to the family of the victims, Rowley said just looking at the grief on television as a citizen, he was quite “shaken by this kind of thing and I trust that the law enforcement authorities would find the perpetrators of such heinous and disturbing action.â€
Asked about the TTPS’ ineffectiveness in its battle against the criminal elements and he could do to fill the gap, Rowley replied, “That is one area where you do not have an alternative. There is no alternative but to keep working and improving the ability of law enforcement in the country. And law enforcement in our country under the Constitution is largely the Police Service.â€
In the area of national security, Rowley disclosed that Cabinet took a decision not to pay $200 million to maintain for one year four of the country’s helicopters.
“This is a cost that has been negotiated downward I was told. US$34 million I was told. We just can’t afford that! If we can’t afford it then the helicopters would stay on the ground… much as we would like to have them in the air. If we have $200 million dollars, the question that arises is that the best way to spend $200 million in the fight against crime?â€
He said selling the helicopters was one option the Government may look at.
Always tell someone how you feel because opportunities are lost in the blink of an eye but regret can last a lifetime.

the crime will not stop Rowley until the society is revolutionized. it is only going to get worse. you ent seen nutten yet.
the west indies has a barbarous formative experience, a murderous history and a continuing barbarous exploitation of its people by a capitalism that takes no prisoners. there is no nationalism in Trinidad. nationalism such as it is, is a cancerous process that has made routine security touch and go and routine social contact hostile and exploitative.
money is everything and everything is for sale. men with money and power can buy any woman or boy they want. that is part of the way Trinidad is. a beautiful young black girl was recently murdered,. she was a police officer. how did eh get that job? she had to pay for it with her body. and every relationship she had had was abusive no doubt leading to her death. someone had to shut her up..or were jealous..a boyfriend who could not stand her exposure to other men
that is the Trinidad I know...,and a lot worse. without the necessary revolutionary social change that has ripened to extremes now that see Trinidad produce people like Dole Chadee and his ilk all the time. those are the social conditions of Titty. if it doesnt not change into real democracy that looks after all its people it will further descend into double and triple hell

BUT ROWLEY CYAR CHANGE IT. HE IS BEHOLDEN TO THE SYSTEM AND IS CONTROLLED BY OLE MARSE FROM A'FAR. ROWLEY IS A PUPPET AND DANCES ON A STRING
it is the people who mus' move..out into the streets, stopping everything, removing the government and creating a new form of administering their nation. they must take over everything, drive the forriner out owner and forceful social factor who determines social policy.
that is the only way to go to clean up the society immediately, qualitatively.
short of that they must still go out into the streets and capture Rowley and his government, to capture the political process braking the tentacles of the forriner over national policy..breaking the strings that manipulates Rowley from a'far, bring the social power home.
that' right. go dong Port of Spain and surround the Red House, capture the parliament and tell them what to do..dictate to them. in fact do it themselves at first then direct the parliament to follow through.
the people by and in their thousands can go disarm the pusher and drug lord and kill their trade. they can lock them up or kill them. they can clean up the police force..and they can clean up the politics immediately, decisively. the people know who the criminals are in the government, who are associated with and protect the criminal activities on all levels and of all kinds. same with the police..who in the police protects encourages criminality.
the people out in the streets can go arrest all these people..try them in the public summarily and kill them all..right away. ALL of them. they can lock them up if they want to. the people out in the streets need no judges and lawyers. they are the LAW..legal and right. they know the story, have the evidence and they are empowered to act in their collective majority out in the streets. they empower themselves. they are where the social buck stops and what they effect once it stands must be recognized by the word
that is the way forward..the only way Trinidad can work out its problems..by all the people..ordinary people taking collective action. that is he experience that would knit all the ethnic groups together to make a nation..a collective, creative, formative social experience in the solution of the massive intractable social problems
they are only intractable because the system is controlled by the exploiters who don't care about the people, the nation only their profits. well..get out into the streets and break down that crap..while puttng in place what they want for their country
