Xi Jinping’s historic speech and the giant “F.U.” to imperial capitalism during the Communist Party of China’s 19th Congress last week seems to have emboldened the Anti-West to new heights (chinarising.puntopress.com/2017/10/29/oc...dio-sinoland-171029/). Mind you, it’s been building up for some time. 21st century leaders like Venezuela’s revolutionary President Hugo Chavez and his successor Nicolas Maduro, Bolivia’s President Evo Morales, Iran’s supreme leaders and presidents, Russian President Vladimir Putin, among others, have been admirably playing the role of the Anti-West standard bearer, in the footsteps of Vladimir Lenin, Josef Stalin, Fidel Castro and Mao Zedong (chinarising.puntopress.com/2017/09/24/ba...dio-sinoland-170924/). The newest member of the Anti-West team is a real stick in Uncle Sam’s eye, President Rodrigo Duterte, because before him, the Philippines were always one of the most subservient American colonial poodles on the planet. Not anymore. “Roddy” loves to cuss at imperial power, with a relish

The US is being pushed out of the grain market as Russia's bumper wheat harvest has dragged down prices to record lows. Russian agricultural exports are booming thanks to a weaker national currency and massive investment.
“We are pushing America aside in some markets, and we are satisfied with this,” said Russia’s Agriculture Minister Aleksandr Tkachev.
This year Russian farmers are expected to harvest the biggest crop in over a century. Russia will produce at least 83 million tons of wheat in the current growing season, according to estimates by The Wall Street Journal
Lower prices and close proximity to large markets gives Russia an advantage, according to the General Director of the Institute for Agricultural Market Studies Dmitry Rylko.
“A relatively weak ruble is good for the Russian wheat market. We see either gradual or rapid growth for our exports,” the expert told RT.
However, the figure announced by the Russian government earlier this year is much more impressive. The Moscow-based grain consultant ProZerno estimates a harvest of over 130 million tons. It is 2.6 percent more than the previous record set in 1978 before the Soviet-Afghan War.
“Today our task is to set reasonable prices across the country. The grain crop of 130 million tons, there is more to come. It may reach up to 200 million tons. The main thing is to find new sales markets,” said Tkachev..

FOUR tanks have been spotted heading towards the Zimbabwean capital Harare after a military chief warned the armed forces are ready to “step in” to a political row that began last week.
Witnesses said the tanks turned before reaching Harare, heading towards the Presidential Guard compound in a suburb called Dzivarasekwa on the outskirts of Harare.
One nearby witness said: "There were about four tanks and they turned right here, you can see markings on the road.”
Soldiers were spotted at the scene but refused to talk to reporters.
Following the sacking of the country’s vice-president last week, the head of the armed forces General Constantino Chiwenga demanded an end to a purge in the ruling ZANU-PF party.

On the eve of the ASEAN summits in the Philippines, diplomats from the United States, Japan, Australia and India met in Manila on Sunday to discuss the issues of security and stability of the Asia-Pacific region. The only precursor to the quadrilateral format in Asia-Pacific – American slang is “Quad” – was when these four countries (plus Singapore) held a similar meeting in May 2007 – coincidentally, in Manila on the sidelines of the ASEAN Regional Forum. Singapore was absent from Sunday’s event. It probably dropped out. Singapore is reviewing its China policies (despite the strong alliance with the US). It hopes to be a regional hub in China’s “Belt and Road Initiative”, and as the chairman of the ASEAN through next year it plans to calm the disputed waters of the South China Sea.
No joint statement was issued after the Quad on Sunday, leaving it to the four capitals to issue press releases. Nuances, inevitably, crept in, which provide useful pointers.
