Rutgers University biological anthropologist Helen Fisher, author of Why Him? Why Her? and Why We Love

says men are more likely to cite sexual motivations for infidelity

and are less likely to fall in love with an extramarital partner.

"Women tend to be more unhappy with the relationship they are in," Fisher says
"while men can be a lot happier in their primary relationship and also cheat.
Women are more interested in supplementing their marriage or jumping ship than men are --
for men, it is a secondary strategy as opposed to an alternate."

According to Rutgers University study, 56% of men who have affairs claim to be happy in their marriages.
They're largely satisfied with all they have and aren't looking for a way out
yet they still find themselves in bed with other women
—and in hot water with their wives.

As a woman, I concur with you. Most women cheat because they have lacked something in that relationship. As for men, I tend to think that most men who cheat are not married to the women they really love but they are married for other reasons mostly convenience purposes. Another observation with cheating men is that most suffer low self esteem or have been really hurt before.
