The reality is that those are not Hindu religious wear

I have made this point before but some Guyanese want to show just how 'Hindu' they are by talking about the need to wear saree, kurta and the like. The reality is that those are not Hindu religious wear (there is no such thing) but Indian national, regional or ethnic wear, often times dictated by geography and normative conventions, social mores and the like. They are worn by all and sundry in India, Hindus, Muslims, Christians included and are also worn by Indian who migrate elsewhere. Indian Christians and Muslims also wear them to churches and mosques. Had Hinduism originated in Africa or Europe the people there would not been wearing saree and the like. So instead of shooting off their mouths people need to get the facts and enlighten themselves.
