AFC salutes Muslims on Youman Nabi celebration

THE Alliance For Change extends greetings to our Muslim brothers and sisters on the occasion of Youman Nabi, today.

On the occasion of Youman Nabi, Muslims celebrate the birth anniversary of the Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Unto Him).

The life of the Prophet Muhammad is a unifying example to all mankind and one which we, as Guyanese of all walks of life, can celebrate and emulate. The Prophet Muhammad preached and embodied peace and sought to bring people together. Today, in Guyana, we need to strive for greater unity and cohesiveness as we embark on a new horizon of prosperity and we can look to Prophet Muhammad as an exemplar.

We must also find the courage to accept and respect each other’s cultures and religions in order to strengthen the fabric of our nation. We in Guyana can be proud of the fact that we have been woven from several cultures and religions—a truly unique Guyanese identity—one which we have more reason to celebrate. The AFC hails the Prophet Muhammad’s life as an example of devotion, love, and sacrifice and urges our Muslim brothers and sisters to celebrate the birth of this Prophet whose teachings will live on as shining examples of how to live at peace in our communities, country and the world.
