The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has issued two recalls affecting products sold in Ontario.
In one case, Elite Salads International is recalling its White Fish product “because it may permit the growth of Clostridium botulinum,†the food inspection agency said in a release.
The product, which is manufactured by the Thornhill, Ont., company, is sold in 200-gram packages with a best-before date of March 15.
The second recall affects certain Mountainoak Cheese Ltd. brand Farmstead Premium Dutch Semi-soft cheese products, which are being taken off shelves because of possible salmonella contamination.
The company, which operates out of New Hamburg, Ont., sold one product to restaurants, while the smoked cheese was available at retail stores from Jan. 20 to Feb. 10.
No illnesses have been reported in either case.
The CFIA said the products should not be consumed, thrown out or returned to the store.
Food contaminated with Clostridium botulinum or salmonella may not look or smell spoiled but can still cause illness.

First thing every morning Bill Hickey turns on the TV to see where the U.S. dollar is trading in the hope it has lost value against the euro and other currencies.
"And there it is, staring you right in the face," says Hickey, president of Chicago-based steel company Lapham-Hickey Steel, about the dollar's continued strength. "The strong dollar is going to be bad for us and it's going to be bad for the U.S. industrial economy."
We're not hearing from customers 'Your products are too expensive.' We're hearing 'The project has been canceled because the economy is in the tank."
Drew Greenblatt, president, Marlin Steel
Mid-sized U.S. manufacturers, such as Lapham-Hickey, are likely to bear the brunt of the dollar's climb that has lifted it nearly 10 percent against the euro and 7 percent against major currencies since mid-December. Foreign exchange strategists polled by Reuters shortly after the euro hit an 11-year low of $1.11 on Jan 26 cited a nearly one-in-three chance the euro would hit parity or lower in the coming year.

(Bloomberg) -- Crude oil capped the biggest two-week rally in 17 years on speculation a falling rig count will curb U.S. production growth. Price volatility rose to the highest in almost six years.
Brent crude jumped 18 percent in the past 10 trading days, the most since March 1998. A volatility index gauging price fluctuations in West Texas Intermediate crude rose this week to to the highest since 2009.
Oil has rebounded as companies including Statoil ASA, BP Plc and Royal Dutch Shell Plc have reduced investments in response to the market’s collapse. U.S. drillers pulled more rigs off oil fields, according to data from Baker Hughes Inc. Friday. Saudi Arabia cut prices for March exports to Asia to the lowest in at least 14 years, signaling OPEC’s largest producer may continue to fight for market share

Bloomberg) -- Greece and Germany are pursuing a deal on the conditions required to continue the Greek bailout as each side signals a willingness to compromise, according to government officials taking part in the talks.

Germany won’t insist that all elements of Greece’s current aid program continue, said two officials in Berlin. As long as the program is prolonged, they said, Germany would be open to talking about the size of Greece’s budget surplus requirement and conditions to sell off government assets.

For its part, Greece is prepared to commit to a primary budget surplus, as long as it’s lower than the current 4 percent of gross domestic product, according to Greek government officials. Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras’s coalition also might be willing to compromise on privatizations, one of the officials said. All the officials asked not to be named because the deliberations are private and ongoing.

“According to multiple people close to Lynch, he hasn’t been happy in Seattle and wouldn’t mind leaving the franchise.
“He was unhappy enough to hold out from training camp in July. He was reportedly unhappy about Seattle’s trade of receiver and buddy Percy Harvin. He reportedly doesn’t see eye to eye with Seattle offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell — a situation that could not possibly be helped by Sunday’s Super Bowl fiasco, when Lynch didn’t get the ball from inside the 1 with the game on the line.
“Up until the end of the season and the playoffs, Lynch was expected to be on his way out of Seattle. His cap number next season jumps to $8.5 million.
“On top of that, Seattle can save $7 million by releasing Lynch, money figured to be needed for quarterback Russell Wilson’s pending raise.â€

ahhhhhh! dat wud be a very nice development..Lynch to Oakland.
it is the truth that Lynch is far from Happy with the Seattle management. Bevel the offensive coordinator don't like Lynch so he does not give him the ball with the game on the line and Seattle loose...a clear case of low level bad-mindedness trumping what should have been a high professional situation.
not to mention big money by those who bet on the line and jumping up because if a jackass coach ...and the Seattle organization too.... the Seattle Seahawks organization which this year has been exposed as a chump small-minded organization just like the rest if then..really really chump by coach and GM..but I suspect GM much more than coach Carrol
they got rid of Percy Harvin mid season and Harvin would have won this game the super bowl for this this time again. they got rid of Golden Tate another top talent who would have helped make the difference again
anyhow lesson learned! I wont forget to handicap those factors into betting next time..the nature and quality of every coaching staff in the NFL. they are as important as the trainer in horse racing..which fact is that they are the critical, basic factor in the game..the head coach and his staff. if they are good the team wins..if they are rotten the team looses, no matter the amount of talented players on the side
