Alabama police officer arrested after Indian grandfather left partially paralyzed
The FBI is investigating an incident in which an Indian grandfather’s encounter with police in Alabama left the man partially paralyzed. An officer involved in the incident is under arrest, and the police chief proposed that he be fired, police said Thursday.
A spokesman for the FBI said that the agency became involved shortly after the Feb. 6 incident, and it is being treated as a civil rights investigation. The findings will be turned over to the Justice Department for review.

(Reuters) - Oil closed up for a second straight week on Friday after another drop in the U.S. rig count, and Brent crude hit a 2015 high above $60 a barrel, but market skeptics cautioned the rally could fade because supplies keep coming.
Many traders and analysts believe there is a global oversupply of nearly two million barrels per day of crude oil. They say little has changed fundamentally to explain the price rebound of the past two weeks.
The number of oil drilling rigs in the United States fell this week to its lowest since August 2011, data showed on Friday. But the market's reaction was relatively tepid compared with the past two weeks when prices spiked on declining rig counts.
"I think people are starting to understand to a certain point that, even if rig counts go down, it's not going to affect production in the short term. It's going to take a few months for that to happen," said Tariq Zahir, managing member at Tyche Capital Advisors in Laurel Hollow in New York.
U.S. crude inventories have swelled to record highs of nearly 418 million barrels, government data showed last week.

(Reuters) - Technology giant Apple (AAPL.O) is learning how to make a self-driving electric car and is talking to experts at carmakers and automotive suppliers, an automotive source familiar with the talks said on Saturday.
The Cupertino, California-based maker of phones, computers and watches is exploring how to make an entire vehicle, not just designing automotive software or individual components, the source said.
"They don't appear to want a lot of help from carmakers," the source, who declined to be named, said.
Apple is gathering advice on parts and production methods, the source said, adding that Apple appeared not to be interested in combustion engine technology or conventional manufacturing methods.

Let it be emphasised, that Amaila is our Crown Jewel for comprehensive change socio-economically, and every Guyanese ought to rally to its support for final legislative approval in the next parliament.
Hydro electricity has the capacity to deepen and widen Guyana’s development, where every facet of national life would change.

Many people know hautoow this one goes:
“Aa kade hogalla madam!†the auto-rickshaw driver shouted from across the road. It might sound unfamiliar in Kannada, but its English translation is all too common: “I’m not heading in that direction ma’am!â€
He drove off. Bhavya Venkatesh sighed and looked at her watch with irritation. It was 6:15 p.m., the heart of rush hour in Bengaluru, and it was getting dark.
“Patience,†she sighed.
And optimism: at least the driver had the courtesy to stop and respond. The previous one drove by without a second glance, even though he had no passengers. In the end, it took the 27-year-old quality analyst 90 minutes to get home on a trip that, with prompt cab service, would have taken 45 minutes.
It has become cliché, but in Bengaluru, as with other cities in India and abroad, there are now apps that provide an alternative. The big player in India’s original technology city is Ola Cabs, which offers an app that people can download and use to summon a rickshaw for immediate booking.
It’s one of a small number of app services for cabs and rickshaws in India, though by far the biggest in Bengaluru, which was previously known as Bangalore.

UPON formation, the Alliance for Change (AFC) said it would NEVER join with the People’s Progressive Party (PPP) nor with the People’s National Congress (PNC).
Yet, for years now, the AFC has been joining forces with the PNC. And after Saturday’s pronouncement, the AFC has finally officially joined the PNC bandwaggon, the APNU.
How does the AFC justify betraying its supporters for political power? Can they be trusted? And, speaking about trust, how would the AFC trust David Granger after he backpedalled on the Linden Electricity Issue?
What can be more demonstrative of power-hungry politicians bent on fulfilling their ambitions than those of the PNC/APNU and AFC coalition to overthrow the democratically-elected PPP/C?
