Mahadeo Shivraj’s A Jasmine for a Gardener, premiers in New York this Saturday.

It’s a movie he boasts about, given that previous production houses which attempted to make a film involving Guyana with a Guyanese cast stopped after their first production.
His first movie, however, did not do well with the Indo-Guyanese audience, so A Jasmine for a Gardener, is Shivraj’s  attempt to bring out that very audience.
In an interview aired on Caribbean Spotlight, Shivraj described the film as a romantic thriller, and says that Indo-Guyanese would relate to it.
The movie takes the drama approach and mixes it with Bollywood’s song and dance.
The movie, its Hindi name being Ek Chameli Mali Ke Liye, revolves around two characters Neetu Raghubir (played by Bhavana Samtani) and Ravi Devdas (played by Shivraj.)
Other well known theatre actors who are featured in the movie include Gem-Madhoo Nascimento, Nazim Hussain, Dimple Mendonca and Neaz Subhan.
