Donald Ramotar lures House of Israel founder Joe Hamilton to join PPP/COctober 10, 2011 Leave a comment Go to comments After many years of courting the House of Israel founder, the PPP/C have finally managed to lure PNCR executive Joseph Hamilton.  Hamilton’s kids were also given lucrative jobs at OLPF(Jagdeo one laptop vote buying scheme) in the Office of The President, and we think this was one of the few perks Donald Ramotar extended to the House of Israel man to get him to jump ship, sorta like how Luncheon gave Mortimer Mingo a cheap house lot in Pradoville 2, but the poor PNC man check bounce, so you could say Mingo couldn’t afford to buy into the PPP/C cabal, maybe if Mingo had ties to House of Israel, he would have been given a financial boon like Hamilton.
What is most surprising is that PPP/C parade Hamilton in front of the same Berbicians that only a few months before Bharrat Jagdeo told they must remember the crimes of the PNCR.  It sure seems like PPP/C are confident that they can fool Berbicians with anything, for them to parade Joe Hamilton in front of Berbicians to cheer, the same Joe, the man that was the pulse of all things Rabbi Washington, I guess it goes to show PPP/C only like people like Joe Hamilton if he is on their side, so I ask you, is PPP/C really any different than the old PNC?
Well then again Rabbi Washington was Janet Jagan boy, when he was a fugitive on the run from the US authorities, he was shacked up in freedom house for many months hiding out.  Then again after Hoyte tossed him in jail for murders, PPP/C set him free.  So Rabbi Washington could have been a murderous PPP goon all along, after all PPP/C is the only party that has anything to gain significantly from a racially divided Guyana and especially when the Indian population is scared of the blacks.
Reminds us of Gregory Smith the man wanted for the murder of Dr. Walter Rodney, Bharrat Jagdeo & PPP/C knew he was hiding out in French Guyana but did nothing to bring him to face the courts.

Senior GRA official skips country amidst $4M bribery probe

A senior official of the Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA) has reportedly resigned amidst investigations into the unauthorized release of a container and the demand of bribes. GRA officials yesterday confirmed that Ray Sukhnandan, Senior Manager of Internal Affairs and Intelligence, an arm of the GRA, reportedly handed in his resignation, via his brother, yesterday.

It is believed that he fled the country over the weekend after a complaint was made that several officers of the department demanded a $4M bribe from a businessman for the release of the container. The container was said to contain general merchandise. Kaieteur News understands that the businessman may have taped the officers asking for monies, in return for the release of the container. Four other officers from the Internal Affairs Department, including one stationed at a city wharf,  are also said to be involved and under probe.

It was explained that under GRA systems, containers entering the country are randomly checked and assessed. In cases of businesses that may have questionable declaration history, these containers are flagged. A GRA official said that officers may have attempted to bypass this flagging by promising to release the container for a fee.

After being renovated two months ago, the access road in to Good Hope, East Coast

One of the many potholes at the entrance to Good Hope Housing Scheme.Demerara, is in a state of disrepair. Residents are peeved at what they describe as shoddy work carried out by a contractor.
“We don’t even know is which contractor, but they just come and throw some sand, loam, stone, crusher run and little tar and when rain fall, everything wash away,” the residents collectively agreed.
“This is what we paying taxes for. Now more money got to spend on the same thing when it could have been used for something else.”
According to residents, the entrance to Good Hope is filled with many ‘craters’ although the road was recently renovated. Taxis working in the area are “sometimes overcharging passengers just to drop anybody inside. They say the road breaking up they cars that’s why de fare so high.”
Another issue raised was “serious problem” with the drainage and irrigation in the area, which causes flooding from “any amount of rainfall.”
“People don’t have any back drains in their yard, so there is no proper drainage.”
Seven bids were opened for road works, drainage in May 2011 for similar works at Good Hope, East Coast Demerara. The Engineer’s Estimate that was given at the National Procurement and Tender Administration Board (NPTAB) was $72,020,940 and the bids submitted were:

Meanwhile, the Lusignan/Mon Repos Neighbourhood Democratic Council (NDC) joined with residents of Mon Repos to repair the existing bridge that was dilapidated.
This was done through self help by villagers last Sunday.
The NDC donated some of the material to do the bridge along Melsha Road.

The bridge that was recently renovated by villagers and the Lusignan/Mon Repos NDCIt was further disclosed by residents that the respective NDCs needs to give villagers the opportunity and assistance to develop where they live and not “only help their friends and take taxpayers money and do their own thing.”
One resident said that the Chairperson for the NDC was cooperative and this motivated persons in the area to come out to assist.
“One resident even spent $120,000 to purchase materials for the bridge. These are the type of things that we need.”

Ashni Singh seeks Parliament’s approval for some $5.6B …money was already used from Contingency Funds in 2011

Two months into the New Year and even before the administration details its 2012 budget, the Finance Minister is looking to have the new Parliament approve some $5.6B in advances made from the contingency funds last year. That approval is for monies expended by the Bharrat Jagdeo administration for the period October 25th to December, 31st 2011.

Regional and General Elections were held on November 28th 2012 and the life of the 9th Parliament, which should have considered those expenditure for approval, came to an end prior to the elections. While the details for which the approval being sought is still unknown, according to the National Assembly’s Order Paper set for the ceremonial opening this Friday by Head-of-State Donald Ramotar, the Finance  Minister is expected to circulate the two financial papers.

The Financial Paper for Supplementary Provisions which is the seventh such request for 2011, points to a request for $2,240,901,071. A subsequent Financial Paper No#8/2011 is also to be tabled by Dr Singh for a request of $3.471M, at which point in time the specific details such as which Ministry would be responsible for what allocation will be disclosed.

The then opposition leader Robert Corbin had on more than one occasions lambasted the administration’s use of the contingency funds, saying that debates for such financial papers are but a mere formality to rectify the books as the monies have already been spent.
