I saw Secretariat at Saratoga Springs Racetrack after his Triple Crown win. He was supposed to run in the Travers Stakes and we went to see him. Unfortunately, he was recovering from a respiratory infection and was scratched from the race. However, the track was packed with people who came to see him, so he was saddled and brought out on the track and cantered in front of the grandstand. I’ve had horses my whole life and I have to say I was blown away when I saw him. His chest was bigger than any thoroughbred I’ve ever seen & I think my jaw hit my chest when I saw his amazing stride! Its almost 50 years ago and I still remember it vividly. There will never be another horse like Secretariat!!
