President Ramotar says GPL rental costs are disturbing, if true

Light Company (GPL) and did not dismiss questions raised about the lack of prudent spending at the utility.
“If what they say is true, it is obviously something to be concerned about,” Ramotar said regarding statements by GPL officials that a new Caterpillar generator costs US$900, 000, but the company rented 12 generators last year at a cost of US$720,000 each.
The revelation comes at a time when GPL is lamenting a mammoth fuel bill coupled with a growing demand for electricity.
The government plans to plough $6 billion into the company this year, saying this is meant to address its financial constraints and avoid already burdened consumers from paying higher electricity tariffs.
Ramotar toured the major operations of the company, namely its Kingston and Sophia operations in Georgetown, and those at Garden of Eden, East Bank Demerara.

THAT FRAUD IS SO STUNNING, SO OPEN AND RIDICULOUS I DONT KNOW WHY THE PEOPLE ALLOW SUCH THINGS TO TAKE PLACE.

THE PEOPLE BUILT UP THE INFRASTRUCTURE IN THE FIRST PLACE...AND SO ACTUALLY OWN THE PUBLIC UTILITY.

THE GOVERNMENT TAKES THIS HUGE AND ESSENTIAL INFRASTRUCTURE AND LITERALLY GIVES IT TO A GROUP OF CROOKS..OR INTERNATIONAL CORPORATION.. FOR NOTHING...UNDER THE GUISE OF PRIVATRISATION. 

DEH TALK ABOUT PRIVATISATION BUT THERE IS NO SALE AND REVENUE FOR THE GOVERNMENT OUT OF IT.  IT IS OUTRIGTH THEFT/GIFT OF THE PEOPLES KAKADAH.

THEN THIS GROUP OF CROOKS..OR INTERNATIONAL CORPORATION... TURNS AROUND AND SETS UTILITY RATES THAT GURANTEE A PROFIT FOR THEMSELVES..INCLUDING MINIMUM RATES THAT MUST BE PAID EVERY BILL NO MATTER HOW MUCH INDIVIDUALS USE.. USUALLY HIGHER THAN THE BASIC RATES PEOPLE PAID PRIOR TO THE PRIVATISING.

AND ON THESE MINIMUM RATES THEY START TO CHARGE USAGE, DELIVERY AND ALL MANNER OF CHARGES, THAT MAKES THE UTLILITY BILL OUTRAGEOUS, UNNECESSARY AND ABSOLUTELY RAPACIOUS.

THERE COULD HAVE BEEN NO GREATER RIP OFF OF THE NATION THAN THIS WHOLE PRIVATISING RACKET.

AND THE PEOPLE OF SO MANY COUNTRIES SIT BACK AND TAKE IT..ACCEPT IT AND PAY THROUGH THE NOSE.

WHAT ARE THE VARIOUS RATINGS OF THEIR PRODUCTS ON ALL LEVELS...INCLUDING FUEL EFFICIENCY, DURABILITY, INITIAL COST, MAINTAINANCE COSTS ETC?

SerenaThis batting performance by the West Indies in the second innings blew me away. I kept closing my eyes and then rubbing and opening them again and sat transfixed as I watch that unbelievable partnership between John Campbell and Shai Hope. What a magnificent performance by these two! It just goes to show that patience, determination and effort can go a long way to improve the performances of the West Indies team.
