Today Breakfast Television finally revealed to the nation who the first Canadian
Bachelor would be. Ta da! Enter Brad Smith. “I’m extremely honoured to be chosen as Canada's first bachelor. I take this experience very seriously, and I truly believe in the process,†said Smith. “I can’t wait to meet all the wonderful Canadian women who have put their lives on hold to experience all of this with me. I hope I can live up to their expectations, as I know they'll absolutely exceed mine.†The 28 year-old CFL wide receiver (who's currently a free agent and living in Toronto) grew up in the small town of Hudson, QC, and graduated from Queen's University before going on to play for the Montreal Alouettes, the Toronto Argonauts and most recently, the Edmonton Eskimos. But he's about to face an entirely different playing field: the world of dating!

, he's "drawn to independent, intelligent women who are comfortable in their own skin and enjoy an active and social lifestyle." He also insists he's attracted to a woman and just "as confident in a ponytail, sweatpants and sweatshirt" as she is dolled up for a big night out.
