Guyanese watchman wanted for murder in Trinidad

Trinidad and Tobago police are looking for a Guyanese watchman who allegedly stabbed to death a construction worker during an argument over a pair of sunglasses, local radio reported.

The Trinidad and Tobago Express newspaper reported that the incident occurred at Trincity Millennium Vision Industrial Estate, Arouca.

Darrel Sean Ross, 45, of 145 Eastern Main Road, Sangre Grande, was stabbed to death by a watchman during an argument over a pair of sunglasses, police said.

The incident occurred around 8.45 a.m. while Ross was at a construction site on the compound owned by Home Construction Limited, a subsidiary of the CL Financial group of companies.

Police said the suspect whipped out a knife and stabbed Ross once in the chest and quickly made his escape.

It is also believed the suspect may have been injured during the incident and police visited several medical institutions in search of him be he could not be found.

Ross, police said, ran out of the compound and collapsed along the pavement at Golden Grove Road, Arouca, where he died.

District Medical Officer Dr Gopaul visited the scene and examined Ross's body and ordered it removed to the Forensic Science Centre for an autopsy.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Terry Young and Snr Supt David Abraham led a team of officers from the Region II Homicide Bureau and the Arouca Police Station to the scene which included Insps Seemungal Rampersad, Andrew Lawrence and Wayne Baptiste and Sgts Learie Figaro, Carl Haustin and Cpl Hezron Lynch.

Abraham, via a brief telephone interview, said an arrest was imminent.
