Indian cricketer
Sachin Tendulkar
slammed a fluent century for
Mumbai
against
Railways
, in the Ranji Trophy 2012 opening match on Friday.
Tendulkar's century put Mumbai in a strong position on the opening day, as they reached 294 for three against Railways.
Tendulkar raced to 100 not out off 103 balls, which was studded with 14 boundaries and three hits over the fence.
It is Tendulkar's 18th century for the Mumbai side and 79th overall, and his only first class century since January 2011.
In this match, Indian top cricketers Tendulkar and Zaheer Khan are representing their home side Mumbai after a long time. This will provide an ideal opportunity for both to get some form ahead of the important Test series against England.
Tendulkar is representing his home association for the first time since the final against UP at Hyderabad in 2009.
Zaheer had played a few away games last season to test his match fitness ahead of getting back into the international arena after an injury lay-off.
