Egypt’s President Mursi assumes sweeping powers
Egypt’s President Mohammed Mursi has issued a declaration banning challenges to his decrees, laws and decisions.
The declaration also says no court can dissolve the constituent assembly, which is drawing up a new constitution.
The president may feel he has gained power through his role as international mediator in the Gaza conflict, but his latest announcement is likely to cause new struggles inside Egypt, the BBC’s Jon Leyne in Cairo reports.
Thousands of protesters have returned to the streets around Cairo’s Tahrir Square over the past week, demanding political reforms and the prosecution of security officials blamed for killing demonstrators last year.

well..I dont know! whose report is that..how much can we trust it?
with regard to the assembly no court should be able to disband an assembly the people elected.
that is what happened before in Egypt. the military disbanded the assembly the people elected. Morsi as president put it back and he was over-ruled again.
if he is changing that provision, that seems fine to me! :

What Mursi has done is brilliant
Tje judiciary are held over from the Mubarack era and they were protecting their Interests , tieing the hands of the govt
Mursi tried to fire the prosecutor general before but he refused to go and the courts agreed with him
Remember that the judiciary nullified the elections for the lower house which the Brotherhood won
Mursi played this hand brilliantly and only after a referendum and the constitiution is in place can these laws be reversed .
