BREAKING: Syria loads chemical weapons into bombs; military awaits Assad’s order
The United States is now dusting off the WMD argument as it makes preparations to intervene militarily in Syria.
On Tuesday, U.S. officialdom said the Syrian regime may be “cooking up recipes” at multiple sites to arm chemical weapons, according to CNN .

The statement followed an earlier one issued on Monday that said the Syrian army had started combining chemicals that could be used to make sarin gas weapons and underscored statements made by Obama about the use of chemical weapons. Obama said there would be “dire consequences” if Syria used chemicals weapons.
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton followed Obama’s warning by stating that the U.S. military would “take action” if Syria crossed the chemical weapons “red line.” Clinton said the Obama administration is “certainly planning to take action if that eventuality were to occur.”

Clinton and Czech Foreign Minister Karel Schwarzenberg discussed Syria’s chemical weapons during a meeting on Monday, according to CBS News. Schwarzenberg had hosted a conference on the issue last month.
Also on Monday, NATO warned the government of Bashar al-Assad not to use chemical weapons in its ongoing war against CIA-MI6 supported mercenaries and al-Qaeda terrorists.
“The possible use of chemical weapons would be completely unacceptable for the whole international community and if anybody resorts to these terrible weapons I would expect an immediate reaction from the international community,” said NATO Secretary-General Anders Fogh Rasmussen from Brussels.
In addition, the French Foreign Ministry mentioned “possible movements on military bases storing chemical weapons in Syria.”
The Syrian Foreign Ministry has denied it is preparing to use chemical weapons and has repeatedly stated it would not use them against the people of Syria under any circumstances.
The latest dust-up over Syria’s chemical weapons is basically a re-run of the pretext used in the lead-up to the invasion of Iraq in 2003.
“The truth is that for reasons that have a lot to do with the U.S. government bureaucracy we settled on the one issue that everyone could agree on which was weapons of mass destruction as the core reason” for invading Iraq, said Assistant Secretary of Defense, Paul Wolfowitz , two months after the invasion.
It was determined prior to and after the invasion that Iraq had long before dismantled its chemical and nuclear weapons programs . Shrill warnings on the part of the Bush administration and neocons embedded in the Pentagon were predicated on cynical fabrications and out right lies.

The neocons pushed the criminal Ahmed Chalabi and his “source” – the Baghdad cab driver known as “curveball” – who stated that Saddam Hussein possessed weapons of mass destruction. This fantasy and others were amplified by the New York Times (in particular, journalist Judith Miller ) and the establishment media in order to cobble together a consensus for invasion.
A similar effort is now underway in regard to Syria. Warnings about Syrian chemicals weapons coincide with the arrival of Patriot missiles on the Turkey-Syria border as the U.S. and NATO prepare for direct military intervention to unseat al-Assad and replace his government with one that mirrors the one installed in Libya: a factionalized (and thus controllable) government rife with al-Qaeda and fanatical Salafist terrorists.
