TORONTO - Police say a Toronto mother has been reunited with her two young children after they were allegedly abducted by relatives while visiting them in Zimbabwe.
Police say the now four-year-old girl and seven-year-old boy travelled to the African country to spend the summer with their extended family, but instead were placed in a boarding school there.
They say the children's mother notified police in September, sparking an investigation that grew to involve the Department of Foreign Affairs, the RCMP and Interpol.
It's alleged relatives worked with the boarding school to keep the children away from their mother even after she flew to Zimbabwe to find them.
But with help from local police, the siblings were brought last week to the Canadian Embassy in the capital of Harare, where they met up with their mother for the journey home.
More details on the case are expected to come out this morning in a news conference at Toronto police headquarters.
