Prime Minister Samuel Hinds this evening joined in on turning the sod at the site of the new Honda headquarters at Charlotte Street, Georgetown.
In brief remarks the Prime Minister noted that the Honda Company, which started in 1937 and has since become the one of the largest companies in the world, known for quality products and service, should be an example for all persons to follow, noting that, “If we want a better life, then we have to become better at the work we doâ€.
Himself, an owner of a Honda Cub 90 ‘mo ped’ in 1966, the Prime Minister recalled that it served him well when he was a work study student during that period.

The new owner of the Honda franchise locally, Managing Director John Permaul was also congratulated for his foresight and his courage to invest in Honda.
The company was purchased in July 2011 from the Mendonca family, after decades of operation, by John Permaul who in a brief speech said that he intends to improve on the service and number of vehicles offered by the company.
The response from customers since he acquired the company motivated his further investment locally, Permaul said.
As part of the ceremony, the businessman launched a Honda Big Tent Promotion which offers customers a 5 per cent discount and a chance to win a hamper. One lucky customer will also win a generator.
An artist’s impression of the new company headquarters was unveiled and according Permaul, it will feature a state-of-the-art showroom and a modern, technologically equipped service center. The multi-million dollar facility is expected to be completed by October of this year.(GINA)
