Southern Ontario is preparing for another blast of wintry weather as an Alberta clipper and Texas low are expected to merge and bring heavy snowfall Thursday and Friday.
In a special weather statement, Environment Canada said light snow will began from west to east on Thursday before heavier snow arrives Thursday night and into Friday morning.
However, there is some uncertainty about the exact path of the storm, the snowfall amounts for individual communities and the timing of the system’s arrival.
The latest weather models suggest that the highest snowfall amounts will occur north of a line from Grand Bend through Hamilton to Kingston.
Up to 15 centimetres of snow is possible in some regions north of the line, while five to 10 cm of snow is expected for Toronto and other communities south of the line.
In addition to snow, there is a risk of freezing rain over the Windsor region on Thursday night.
Motorists should be prepared for hazardous driving conditions, including snow-packed roads and poor visibility in blowing snow.
When the snow arrives, the temperature will be seasonal, with highs of -2 C and -3 C expected Thursday and Friday, respectively.
