Cook refuses to back under-fire Pietersen

England captain Alastair Cook has refused to endorse batsman Kevin Pietersen's place in the side, but says it's the media twisting the story to show that the Powers That Be want KP ousted.

Pietersen has been under fire since the Ashes in Australia, which England lost five nil, with coach Andy Flower reportedly insisting on the Surrey man being dropped if he is to continue in the head coach role.

While Flower has denied this, Cook has not come forth to back his fellow batsman, and despite Pietersen being England's top run-getter in the Ashes, the tide has once again turned against the controversial player.
Cook said when asked if he wanted KP in the team: "It's very hard for me to talk to you the media about this. It's very hard.
"I can't do that. Confidentiality and stuff like that - what happens in the dressing room stays in the dressing room. I refuse to do that.
"You can regard it as you want. As is the way with the media that happens."
He then implored people to forget about the Test side for now, and focus on the ODI series, which begins in Melbourne on Sunday.
He said: "What is important for me is the one-day series at this precise moment in time.
"We know that when I get home from this one-day series a lot of important decisions on how we want to go forward with this Test team, the one-day team and my future - all that kind of stuff - is very important.
"My total focus has to be on us winning games of cricket in this series. We have a World Cup in 2015 in exactly the same conditions as we are going to experience here and that has to be given my full thought.
"After this series then you go back on to how do we rebuild the Test side."

Always tell someone how you feel because opportunities are lost in the blink of an eye but regret can last a lifetime.

The  wailin  , Post mortem and the gnashing of teeth regarding the English team is a  useless exercise.
There is nothing fundamentally wrong with this English team  that a minor tweaking will  not fix .

The media on both sides of the pond are relentless ....... just won't let this go.

The only way to stem them is to win some games .... agree with Cookie not to get drawn in.

The Ashes have gone, concentrate on the ODI's

I forget Mail is an englishman.  I was about tuh ask why he likes concern for the english but he is english.  I am  not.

I am not Oz either.  so it is surpassingly pleasing when either of these 2 are in a bother.  even bettah when deh are both tied up in the same issue, choking in it and on it :-[ :-[ :-[

pheeeeew!  real Sweet.  it was pure sugar to see gutless england players scatter in the wind  under Johnson steam.  Johnson does not even resemble lillee and Thommo and deh still run.  Swann run when a pitch dat would have resurrected him was next up

now if only west indies had a regime that could take advantage we would be sailing.... >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(

Cookie doing the right thing, stay out of this mess. Media scavengers as usually looking for their bit of gossips etc. Twisting his words again, how bloody dishonest.
About KP - I really don't know what's gonna happen to him either.

Kevin Pietersen should go now - he has caused nothing but trouble for the rest of the team for years now and they keep giving him a 'second chance'.  He is not a team player and although he may be the highest run scorer he doesn't score when the team need him to.  He is just a waste of space!!

Perhaps the most perplexing aspect of AT&T Stadium, otherwise known as “Jerry World,” is the glare from the sun that bursts through the windows and shines directly onto the field. Time and time again the glare has impacted players’ visibility during games, yet Jerry Jones refuses to make any changes to account for the sun.

Rather than install curtains, Jones has previously said he feels it’s a home-field advantage to have that type of stadium factor impacting games. Well, the glare ended up benefitting the Chiefs early into Thursday’s Thanksgiving game, as a pass from Dak Prescott to George Pickens fell incomplete, at least in part due to the impact of the sun’s glare.

I kept closing my eyes and then rubbing and opening them again and sat transfixed as I watch that unbelievable partnership between John Campbell and Shai Hope. What a magnificent performance by these two! It just goes to show that patience, determination and effort can go a long way to improve the performances of the West Indies team. Let us hope that this effort by West Indies batsmen would not be a one-off performance, but will be the beginning of a renewed effort to improve the performances of the team, going forward.(13.10.2025, 09:28)(09:28)0

WarrenJameis Winston is asked about being named QB3 on the Giants' roster behind Russell Wilson and Jaxson Dart:

"As a competitor, you want to be the starter. But I prepare to be the starter, I know I'm a starter in this league.

But you have to be able to be grateful for your role...my role right now is to assist Russ and Jaxson to be the best that they can be while preparing to be the best that I can be.

No matter if I'm 3, 33, this is my first year being number 19, so it's always a first for everything.

I focus on what I would love. And what I would love is for this team to have success."
