WICB projects 100% rise in revenue if ICC revamp stamped
ESPNcricinfo staff
January 29, 2014

The West Indies Cricket Board has said it expects its revenue to rise by "at least 100%" over the next eight years if the "key principles" of the draft proposal on the ICC's revenue sharing are voted in.

The board issued a statement in support of the "key principles" put forward on day one of the ICC executive board meeting in Dubai, saying it had engaged in "extensive discussions" before concluding that several of the key principles could be beneficial to West Indies cricket.

"After extensive discussions and careful consideration the West Indies Cricket Board joined with all other Full Members of the ICC in providing support for key principles relating to the future structure, governance and financial models of the ICC," the release said.

The release listed the benefits the proposals could have for the game in the Caribbean, including the projected monetary benefits. "Based on new proposed system of ICC revenue sharing for the upcoming eight year cycle (2015-2023) WICB projects to receive at least 100% increase on the previous eight year cycle (2006-2014)," the release said.

The annual Test Match Fund, which is to support Full Members other than India, England and Australia, will "allow the WICB a financial buffer in the hosting of Test cricket against unprofitable teams", the release said.

Also, bilateral playing agreements, as opposed to the FTP, would mean West Indies "will not be bound" to host those unprofitable tours, it said. "West Indies will have an opportunity, through bilateral agreements, to increase the number of matches and series (Tests, ODIs and T20Is) played annually by the West Indies men's team against higher ranked opposition and against teams, which are profitable to the WICB. These will include matches and series both in the West Indies and overseas."

Moreover, the BCCI, ECB and Cricket Australia "have all committed" to increased tours to the Caribbean

according to this wicb go  get double money for doing nothing, or very little.  deh are going to be paid for tours they are asked to host but do not have to.

reads like a bribe to me..support for the big 3 doing their thing as a big 3 ruling the roost.

the way this above seems structured  reads like built in betrayals are catered for.

as promised or 'committed' or undertaken..the big 3 wont play the west indies very much unless west indies become again, a draw they cant avoid.  there is nothing hard and fast so everybody can back track or 'change' according to circumstances not seen at the time or planning

I was figuring that if India pulled out the wicb would be left to struggle for survival with this or that sponsorship quite insufficient in the failure of the team as a draw..with minus a voice in international relations..

such a dreadful situation might force them to realign ideologically and become nationalist to benefit from the nationalist support of the west indian people now their one source of survival..would be...

so that is why they have not been saying anything.  if they get the big 3 dispensation west indies will  be a minnow period.  we will be paid to be minnow over the next 8 years.

we are paid to be minnow now which is why we are..which is why the wicb make little or no effort to improve why Gibson can sabotage the team and retain his job.  his job is indeed to sabotage.  he is very good at it and so he is in solid at 300k usd per annum

that seems kind clear as to what is going on.  if its true it explains a whole lot.

skameron and dem..the wicb and the west indian elites... have accepted to be minnows and get paid for it.

the west indian elites do not want a winning cricket team which they fear will be revolutionary, a source of social instability for the status quo.  they long wanted to destroy west indies cricket and now they have found a way to get paid for such destruction

as I said!  there aint nobody stupid at the wicb

NOC is irrelevant at this point .

A few of our players will just refuse Retainer contracts.....

The Bankrupt West Indies will get Ca$h , since the  Caribbean is a desireable venue.

I feel bad for Zim , Bangla , Ireland and to a lesser extent kiwis...

which is why I established a month ago..that if Gibson is retained I will give it all up..west inidies cricket.

if this thing passes then west indies cricket is done.  the wicb will be fat for killing west indies cricket.

its all over short of revolutionary social change in the west indies..only a remote possibility in the scheme of things.

again I established long time now that there will be no resurgence in west indies cricket until there is general social reform in the region.  I was absolutely right.

west indies cricket has been deliberately sabotaged by the west indian black and brown elites. 1995 was the beginning of the end not a triumphant rise of the blacks to power.  it was a change of death for the cricket from white to black administration

Perhaps the most perplexing aspect of AT&T Stadium, otherwise known as “Jerry World,” is the glare from the sun that bursts through the windows and shines directly onto the field. Time and time again the glare has impacted players’ visibility during games, yet Jerry Jones refuses to make any changes to account for the sun.

Rather than install curtains, Jones has previously said he feels it’s a home-field advantage to have that type of stadium factor impacting games. Well, the glare ended up benefitting the Chiefs early into Thursday’s Thanksgiving game, as a pass from Dak Prescott to George Pickens fell incomplete, at least in part due to the impact of the sun’s glare.

I kept closing my eyes and then rubbing and opening them again and sat transfixed as I watch that unbelievable partnership between John Campbell and Shai Hope. What a magnificent performance by these two! It just goes to show that patience, determination and effort can go a long way to improve the performances of the West Indies team. Let us hope that this effort by West Indies batsmen would not be a one-off performance, but will be the beginning of a renewed effort to improve the performances of the team, going forward.(13.10.2025, 09:28)(09:28)0
