Parika Salem, Supreme Petroleum and Philadelphia recorded victories

Georgetown, Guyana - Parika Salem, Supreme Petroleum and Philadelphia recorded victories when the Supreme Petroleum and Big Yard Auto Sale T20 tournament continued last weekend on the East Bank of Essequibo.

Parika Salem thumped Zeelugt by 51 runs at Tuschen. Parika Salem batted first and were sent packing for 99 in 17.4 overs with Kemol Savory and Daniram Lallaram scoring 15 each. Devindra Mangra and Kumar Shakoor picked up two wickets apiece.

Lallaram then grabbed four wickets for five runs from 3.1 overs to help bowl out Zeelugt for 48 in 12.4 overs. Edwin Burnett and Troy Benn supported with two apiece. Mangra was the only batsman that showed fight with 26.

At Vergenoegen, Supreme Petroleum overcame Hyde Park by 20 runs. Supreme Petroleum took first strike and managed 157-7 in 20 overs. Rajiv Ivan and Ricardo Adams laid the foundation with an opening stand of 87. Ivan stroked 50 and Adams 42. Inshan Mohamed claimed 2-26 and Ucil Armstrong 2-35.

Hyde Park threatened somewhat but fell for 137 in 19.2 overs in response. Alim Mohamed scored 36 and Travis Drakes 34. Javed Shafeek snared 3-17 and Sheldon Alexander 2-24. At Tuschen, Philadelphia got the better of Tuschen A by four runs.

Philadelphia made 99 all out in 20 overs, batting first. V. Boodhoo led with 31; Vickra Kissoon captured 3-20 and Altaf Khan 2-19. The hosts were bowled out for 95 in 17 overs in reply. Extras contributed 17 while Azar Safie made 15. Gowkarran Debi had 3-19 and Y. Baldeo 2-24.

The competition continues on Sunday with Hyde Park facing Vergenoegen at Parika Salem at 09:30hrs, Tuschen A hosting Parika Salem at 13:30 hrs and Hydronie matching skills with Philadelphia at Parika Salem at 13:30hrs.

Meanwhile, the East Bank Essequibo Cricket Committee will be holding its Biennial General Meeting at 17:00hrs today at Dwayne’s Wash Bay.
