* Now that Shiv has taken over as the highest scorer at the #5 batting position he should drop down to the #6 batting position in the WI team.

* Steve Waugh(3165) has scored the most runs at the #6 batting position.

* Shiv to date has scored 2528 runs at #6 and needs 638 runs to surpass Waugh at that position. :D

* In 161 tests Shiv has scored 11,775 runs at an average of 52.33 with 30 hundreds and 66 fifties.

* THOSE ARE GREAT NUMBERS SHIV HAS PUT UP.

* But some West Indians refuse to acknowledge that Shiv has put up great stats in his career.

* Of course, if Darren Bravo or Kraig Brathwaite or Leon Johnson or Jermaine Blackwood were to put up Shiv's numbers at the end of their careers those very West Indians who claim Shiv is not a great would be celebrating the greatness of Bravo, Brathwaite, Johnson and Blackwood.

* It's called PREJUDICE---West Indians who are prejudiced against Shiv would never accept the fact he has put up great numbers in his career.

"Great numbers" and "greatness" are two different things.

2014 was the best year for hundreds after 1948. It is simply easier to make runs nowadays.

Shiv has "great numbers", but whether he's a "great batsman" is another issue entirely.

Here's a pertinent discussion:

* I look at greatness in cricket the way I look at billionaires.

* The world has about 1600 billionaires, but not all billionaires are the same.

* You have the elite billionaires----those whose are worth 10 billion or more and then you have the ordinary billionaires.

* In cricket you have the elite greats and you have the ordinary greats.

* Let's focus on batsmen.

* The elite greats among batsmen are those who dominated the eras they played in----Bradman, Sobers, Richards, Lara and Tendulkar.

* Then you have the ordinary greats----they are not in the same league as the elite greats but they have put up great numbers----scored a minimum of 6000 test runs at an average of 50+

* There you have it----Elite greats vs ordinary greats.
