Okay, this wasn't the biggest surprise in the world. The commentators had already told us a few days ago that he had signed a Kolpak contract. And he'd likely have been dropped anyway.

If everything goes according to plan with the fitness of our players, it seems likely that Stiaan van Zyl will replace Petersen as an opener. With JP Duminy and Quinton de Kock fit, that would give us a batting line-up of Elgar, van Zyl, du Plessis, Amla, de Villiers, de Kock, Duminy.

Look out, Bangladesh.
