Kingston, Jamaica - Out-of-favour Jamaica Franchise wicketkeeper, Carlton Baugh Jr, was in outstanding form at the weekend, when he slammed a century to guide St Thomas Cricket Association to an innings-and-73-runs win over Lucas Cricket Club in the first round of the two-day 2015 Jamaica Cricket Association Senior Cup.
Baugh Jr, dropped after Jamaica's sixth match of the 10-round regional four-day tournament, slammed 114 with 15 fours and six sixes in the encounter played at Nelson Oval, as St Thomas, responding to 153 made by Lucas, scored 341.
Fitzroy Reid, 48, and Shamari Brown, 33, also got among the runs for St Thomas against Jermaine Gordon, two for 48, and, Dwayne Guthrie, two for 53.
The 32-year-old Baugh Jr is representing St Thomas for the first time, after transferring from boyhood club Melbourne Cricket Club.
Meanwhile, Lucas were restricted courtesy of rookie Jamaica Franchise fast bowlers Gavan Brown and Keno Wallace.
The left-handed Brown, who played one match for Jamaica midway the regional four-day tournament, claimed five for 27, and the lanky Wallace, who played two at the start, picked up three for 34.
This was against Guthrie, who hit nine fours and two sixes to topscore with 60, and Orlando Minott, who made 30.
Lucas, batting a second time, were bowled out for 115, with Wallace getting five for 28 against Guthrie, 25, and Gordon, 21.
The group's other matchup, between Melbourne and Kensington Cricket Club at Kensington Park, ended in a draw due to rain.
Kensington batted first and made 165 with national opener Horace Miller, 47, Delbert Gayle, 44, and Cassius Burton, 30, leading the way against leg-spinner Damion Jacobs, seven for 42.
Melbourne, in response, posted 173 with Jon-Ross Campbell, 84, getting most runs against Ryan Francis, five for 32, and captain David Bernard Jr, four for 26.
Kensington, batting a second time, scored 202 on the back of 93 from Bernard Jr, with left-arm spinner Christopher Lamont, six for 47, and Jacobs, three for 90, claiming most runs.
Melbourne, set a competitive 210 to win, were 20 without loss when the rains came.
