Durham seamer Mark Wood is determined to make his mark for England during the upcoming tour of the West Indies.
The 25-year-old impressed for the Lions against South Africa's A side over the winter and has been named in England's 16-man party for next week's trip to the Caribbean.
Wood said: "I'm not going over there to make up the numbers. I definitely want to try and play a Test match and make my debut, I'd love for that to happen.
"So I'm going to give it my shot in the nets, and hopefully I can impress a few people there and get a go.
"Hopefully I bring something different to the table and they can see something in me like they have done so far and I can get a game.
"It's obviously been a frustrating couple of months for England recently and as a fan, I've been frustrated as well, so it'll be nice if we can get back to winning ways on the field and have that good camaraderie and atmosphere off it."
England kick off their tour with two warm-up matches against a St Kitts & Nevis Invitational XI and then begin the first of three Tests against the West Indies on April 13.
Always tell someone how you feel because opportunities are lost in the blink of an eye but regret can last a lifetime.

Hopefully he gets into the side as I would be interested to see what he has to offer at the Test level. He is still young and showed some promise on the recent Lions tour of South Africa where he picked up 10 wickets in 6 matches though he struggled with consistency.
As an aside, Wood is an interesting character. He likes to ride around on an imaginary horse when he gets bored from time to time: "There are times when it gets boring in the field, so I bring out the imaginary horse and try to joust my team-mates. I don’t know how the England boys will take it, but I’ll have a go. I like to have a trot and feed him apples – he loves Granny Smiths."

Well good for Mark Wood. There is no better team to make a great debut against than the West Indies and if he plays then he should be licking his lips at the prospect of taking a lot of wickets.
