* Well, Bradman was the greatest batsman ever---yet most runs scored by an Aussie is Ponting.

* Hutton was the greatest English batsman ever---yet  most runs scored by a Pommie is Gooch(42.58 avg)

* Records are made to be broken----and all of us Shiv supporters would like to see a statistical great like Shiv(50+ test average) overtake an extraordinary great like Lara in terms of most runs scored.

* But right now it looks like even Shiv(11842) is deathly afraid of surpassing Lara(11953)----he needs only 112 but the way he is batting that looks like an unsurmountable task.

* Once Shiv ends his career with a 50+ test average---first Guyanese to do so---that is all I care about---surpassing Lara's 11953----that would be a nice bonus.

* By the way, all of Lara's supporters are hoping and praying for Shiv to be dropped from the WI team after the Barbados test----it will psychologically harm them if Shiv were to miraculously surpass 11953.

* Would you also refer to Alan Border's 44 Not Outs as selfish ?

* How about Steve Waugh ? Would you also refer to his 46 Not Outs as selfish ?

* Shiv, Border, and Waugh all played the majority of their test innings at the #5 batting positions and in terms of percentages their NOT OUTS in terms of innings played were nearly identical.
