Sunil Narine warned to bowl only with remodelled action

Kolkata Knight Riders spinner Sunil Narine has been cleared to bowl all deliveries in the Pepsi Indian Premier League 2015 but only with his remodelled action. A Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) release said the BCCI Suspect Bowling Action Committee has warned him to not deviate from his remodelled action.

Curiously, the biomechanical analysis of his action at the Sri Ramachandra Arthroscopy and Sports Sciences Centre in Chennai was only for his remodelled action, even though match officials, umpires Richard Illingworth (England) and Vineet Kulkarni as well match referee Manu Nayyar had reported their doubts about certain deliveries - ostensibly the offbreak.

This BCCI release said that analysis has re-confirmed the conclusion of the first Official Assessment by the Committee that the remodelled action for the offspinner does not contravene Law 24.2 (as read with Law 24.3).

"The Committee has determined that Mr. Narine's name be removed from the IPL Suspected Illegal Bowling Action Policy's Warning List and that he may once more bowl all deliveries (the offspinner, the knuckle ball and the quicker straight ball) in matches organised by the BCCI including the IPL," the release said.

The committee has told Narine that any further report for a suspected illegal bowling action during the season will mean that he would be banned from bowling for the rest of the season. The Kolkata Knight Riders spinner, who has two wickets in five matches this season, has been cautioned not to again deviate from his remodelled action.

It, however, remains to be seen whether Kolkata Knight Riders would include Narine in their XI for their remaining games, especially after Brad Hogg, his replacement in the team, made an instant impact with his left-arm wrist spin.
