The West Indies/England Test series, once called "The Rubber", now the "Wisden Trophy", is over, and regardless of what anyone now says, the home team did remarkably well in drawing the contest.
After fighting hard on the last day of the Test, batting throughout the last day, and coming up with a sterling performance highlighted by Jason Holder's batting, the West Indies drew the first Test; after failing miserably on the last day, the West Indies lost the second Test; and after falling behind, and appeared to be heading for defeat, the West Indies came back gloriously to win the third Test in three days.
It was not the same old story of "turning the corner", but it was, probably, the beginning of things to come. It almost brought back the happy feeling, the atmosphere of the good old days, as the people at Kensington Oval jumped and cheered in total glee.
The people right around the West Indies were satisfied, not so much that the team did not lose as expected, but that the West Indies team, except for the final morning of the second Test, fought hard, sometimes brilliantly, and they played like true West Indians in defence of something, especially of West Indies cricket.
