Isn't there some sort of rule saying that you're not allowed to hit your first ball of a Test innings for six?

Positive 50 from Latham off just 72 balls. McCullum, as usual, thrashing the ball around right from the outset.

Good chance Beefy's fastest century (87 balls) at Headingley could be in danger the way McCullum has started.

123/3 at lunch. Wood has yet to find his rhythm or velocity.

From out of nowhere, Wood produces a ripper of a delivery to bowl Watling. New Zealand 144/5.
Almost 2 in 2 as Ronchi edges his first ball faced over the slip cordon.

If they are going to persist with Northern tests, should there be minimum weather requirements?

Tom Latham continues his good day, times one down the ground for a boundary

Going back to the start of the decade, 12 of the 13 Test matches played at Headingley have finished with a result - the one draw coming back in 2012 against South Africa. Even with the rain that has persisted in recent years, results have still been possible. I think the last three Tests here have all had some form of a rain delay.
