Overton called up as Jordan cover

England have called up Somerset allrounder Craig Overton as cover for the third ODI against New Zealand after Chris Jordan suffered a side strain in Friday's second match.

Jordan was unable to complete his ten-over allocation at The Oval after feeling discomfort and leaving the pitch, although he did return to bat as England tried desperately to get over the line. He suffered a painful time with the ball even before the injury, taking 1 for 97 from nine overs, equalling the most expensive spell by an England bowler in ODIs.

"Sides are funny ones with bowlers, you don't know how bad it is until the scans come through," England captain Eoin Morgan said of Jordan after the game. "He's going to be a doubt."
