Players accused of taking bribe given clean chit: Anurag Thakur

BCCI Secretary Anurag Thakur has said that the three players accused of taking a bribe have been given a clean chit since nothing came out of the ICC inquiry. The issue arose when former IPL chief Lalit Modi revealed a letter that he sent to ICC in 2013 where he had alleged that three players belonging to Chennai Super Kings were bribed by a prominent Mumbai builder.

"Three players, Ravindra Jadeja, Dwayne Bravo and Suresh Raina, are in close contact with real estate tycoon Baba Diwan of HDIL. Reliable sources have informed me that he has paid in cash and kind (flats) to the above three in tune of Rs 20 crore each," said Modi's letter and ICC confirmed that they had received the letter and appropriate action was taken on the same when it was received two years ago, including sharing it with BCCI's Anti-Corruption unit.

Talking about the same, Thakur said that it was under ICC's jurisdiction to investigate the matter. He also added that since ICC had not come up with any report subsequently, then it meant that the players have been given a clean chit.

"We reviewed the emails sent by Lalit Modi. ICC had confirmed that they received emails from Modi. They shared it with BCCI as well. When someone plays international cricket, the responsibility is with ICC's anti-corruption unit to do an inquiry on it. There is nothing in that. If there was something, they would have informed us. If ICC has not got back to us with anything, it means the players have got a clean chit."

When specifically asked if BCCI took any action or inquiry against the two players, Thakur reaffirmed that it was under ICC's jurisdiction to look into the matter.

Damn I wonder how a clean chit looks... ::confused:: Bribing and match fixing is always okay unless the ICC finds you guilty so why not continue?
