Chris Rogers stepped up his return to cricket with an indoor net

Australia's Chris Rogers stepped up his return to cricket with an indoor net against spinner Nathan Lyon on Sunday.

The batsman is recovering from dizzy spells suffered when he was struck on the helmet by a bouncer on day two of the second Ashes Test at Lord's.

Cricket Australia tweeted a picture  of Rogers in the nets, but added that the 37-year-old "remains in some doubt for the third Test".

The match at Edgbaston starts on Wednesday with the series level at 1-1.

Team doctor Peter Brukner said on Saturday: "Chris will increase his level of activity over the next days and be monitored."

Rogers, who averages 53 and has scored four of his five Test centuries against England, carried the drinks on to the field during a break in play on the third day of Australia's game against Derbyshire on Saturday.

In Rogers's absence, stand-in opener Shaun Marsh scored an unbeaten century.

Australia won the second match of the five-Test series by 405 runs. After being hit by a delivery from James Anderson in the first innings, Rogers continued batting to make a Test-best 173.

However, in the second innings, Rogers retired on 49 on the fourth morning after saying he could see the Lord's grandstand move.
