T&T Cricket Roberts shows fight against Merry Boys

Former West Indies batsman Lincoln Roberts struck a half century for Jailal Enterprise Victoria against Merry Boys on the first day of the second round of the T&T Cricket Board (TTCB) Premiership One three-day competition, yesterday.

Roberts, now 41 years old, top-scored with 84 for Victoria to lead Victoria to 251 all out batting first at the Barrackpore West Secondary School Ground. Roberts, who played one Test match for the West Indies in 1999, was supported by Ranga Latchana, who scored 72.

Philton Williams (3/85) and Javed Ramdhanie (3/60) both snatched three wickets to help reduce Victoria’s total. In reply, Merry Boys closed on 137/3 with the in-form Isaiah Rajah top scoring with 75 and Mario Belcon pitching in with 61. Rajah slammed 138 in the first round against Powergen.

The same fixtures will take place today in the TTCB 50-over competition, while round two of the three-day competition will continue on Saturday and conclude next Sunday.
