Shakib gets team in CPL

Number one ranked all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has been picked by Barbados Tridents ahead of the upcoming season of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL), a Twenty20 franchise cricket tournament in the West Indies. Shakib will be paid approximately 1,30,000 USD which is equal to 1,40,00000 Bangladeshi Taka.

The franchise bought Shakib for the sixth season of the tournament on Thursday during the players auction which was held in London, England. Earlier, the 28-year old all-rounder played for the same franchise back in 2013 during the first season of the tournament.

In the previous season the tournament Shakib played in three matches for Jamaica Tallawahs. The all-rounder’s best performance came against Barbados Tridents when he took an wicket and then played a brilliant knock of 44 with the bat.


Shakib has been a regular participator in the domestic T20 tournaments since 2011. He has played in every T20 tournament around the globe including Indian Premier League (IPL), Big Bash T20 tournament, Pakistan Super League (PSL).

The tournament will be held from August 8 to September 16. As in the previous three seasons, there are six franchises that will face each other in this year’s tournament. The opening round of matches will take place in Trinidad and Tobago as well as Guyana.
