A Jamaican born cricketer who made England his home & became a veteran of Lancashire league before finally retiring at the age of 85.
Cecil Wright born in Santa Cruz, St Elizabeth, Jamaica in 1933 played one first class match for Jamaica before moving to England in 1959, where he played semi professionally in Lancashire alongside some of the greats of the game including Gary Sobers & Viv Richards.
Wright’s only game for Jamaica wasn’t a success as he bowled against a strong Barbados team that included greats like Collie Smith, Seymour Nurse without taking a wicket.
Wright played his last match in 2019 in a career that saw him take more than 7,000 wickets that spanned over six decades.
A genuinely quick & innovative bowler who unfortunately died at the age of 91 🏏
Always tell someone how you feel because opportunities are lost in the blink of an eye but regret can last a lifetime.
