Two good friends were likely on their way home from target shooting on Saturday evening when the car they were driving crossed a centre lane and slammed into a truck, killing them both.

Around 6:45 p.m. Saturday, the OPP say, a Honda Accord going northbound on Highway 6 near Chippewa Road crossed the centre line and struck an oncoming pickup truck.

Unable to swerve out of the way, a Chevy Cruz crashed into the rear of the pickup and became wedged underneath the bed of the truck.

The two occupants of the Honda — David Anderson, 64, and Dulce Bustria, 53, both of Hamilton — were pronounced dead at the scene.

Anderson’s brother Don told CBC Hamilton his brother was “very much a sportsman, an outdoorsman and also a collector.” He made his living as a dental technician.

“He had great interest in sports, loved to fish — that was one of his big passions — and boating,” Anderson said.
