* There was no need to declare when the did. They could have batted for another half an hour.

* Some will say winning is more important than personal achievement.

* I agree with that, but do you believe the WI would have declared at 484/7 against any of the Top 5 teams knowing fully well that the score needed to avoid the follow on was only 284 ?

Bangladesh is not a top team so the declaration is pertinent to this test and the opposition.


In fact I felt the timing of the declaration strange but as you indicated, it was the plan and the decision would have been based on a combination of taking time out of the game, the score, frustrating the opposition etc.


However had they gone on, it is probable they would not have bowled out Bangladesh within the day!


To that end it would seem the declaration was a good one. Windies will be fresh and ready to go tomorrow.
