The Leewards Islands Cricket Board, however, have since stated Pybus was ‘handpicked’ by Cricket West Indies president Dave Cameron during an ‘unacceptable’ process.
‘It is unfortunate, unacceptable and unethical for the CWI president to single-handedly recruit a person of his choosing, and to proceed with salary negotiations without the prior knowledge of the Board,’ LICB directors Enoch Lewis and Denrick Liburd wrote in an email.
Sammy referred to Pybus’ alleged role in the removal of WI men’s team coaches Ottis Gibson (now South Africa coach)
Phil Simmons (now Afghanistan coach)
as well as women’s team coach Sherwin Campbell during his time as director of cricket.
"Darren Sammy is entitled to his opinion," he said.
You'll have to ask him about that.
Criticism is part of the game, part of the tapestry and the drama around sport.
We've just got to get on with the job really. I don't really want to unpack the past........:woohoo:
"Darren Sammy responded to a CWI press release that referred to Pybus as :
"the architect of the West Indies trifecta of 2016 World Cup titles"
- the men's World T20,
the women's World T20
the Under-19 World Cup
- by saying the teams won "in spite" of him, not because of him"
NOW a TEST win : 3rd largest in terms of runs record !
PYBUS will thief the credit
'How is it that Mr Pybus and his friend Toby Radford have not been able to attract
the attention of the number of professional cricket teams in their own country?'
