to begin with the illegal immigration must be stopped..reduced to the barest trickle. you cant stop that totally
then let the Titty government locate the 15 thousand Yardy illegals and regularise those who have been gainfully active, establishing lives for themselves. I dont see how such people no matter how they arrived hurt the nation.
I would do the same for all the illegals no matter how they arrived..even the chinese. they are hard workers, they are at the bottom and will work out live for themselves and have to learn english etc. but I would attack the smugglers, the businessmen who pray on them. I would smash them without mercy. they would be deported whether or not I made successful cases against them.
I dont care. as long as I knew they are guilty they are gone. they are the trouble, the destabilizers
of the illegals caught in crime they too are gone. but those who came to make lives and are involved in doing so would be kept

The period of 1961 to 1964 is extremely critical because it involved the orchestration of the demise of the PPP by Burnham. Instead of exhausting the parliamentary process, Burnham took central issues to the streets, making it difficult for Jagan to rule via parliamentary democracy. As president of the Guyana Labour Union, Burnham did not object to CIA involvement in local union activities (financing strikes and striking workers’ wages), which helped deteriorate PPP’s image in London and Washington. The violence culminated in the racial and communal violence of 1964 between Indians and Blacks, leaving at least 170 dead, thousands injured, and more than 1,000 homes destroyed. Dispossession of thousands led to the establishment of today’s “squatting areas,†as people moved to neighborhood dominated by their own race.
