Memo To : Guyanese citizens in Canada.
The Gas Company Enbridge will REPLACE your Furnace and put in on your monthly bill :
and YOU have the choice of paying it off or pay in Instalments .
Please , after we OVERWORKED the Furnace during this extreme and historical COLD freeze ...
ALSO , they have a Plan that sees a tekky come to your hose TWICE per year to service and test it !!
for about 60 bucks a year.
Methink Furnaces come in 3 categories : Low effeciency . mid , and High .
Based on the size of your home Prices range from $ 1, 800 to $ 3, 500......
Do It !

Good Advise there Ketch!
we replaced ours 3 years ago to high efficiency......and get a yearly maintenance check up on it.
plus.....we recently installed carbon monoxide detectors on all three levels of the house.
one right outside our bedrooms and unlike smoke detectors, these should be on the lower part of the wall.
but....according to the article you posted on the SB, their CM alarms were going off.
did they just ignore it, or didn't hear it?

I really dont know why they did NOT hear it !
Maybe they were too bundled up to keep Warm :
ears and everything covered up ?
News will come out ...they are such nice people .
I am so saddened by this especially his Mom wake was there a few weeks back... :'(

Belle , the Life of a furnace is about 20 - 25 years , based of course on your maintenance effort !
IF you have never replaced and your home is OVER 25 years old ...
NOW is the TIME to replace !

it doesn't matter new or old it could still give [color=rgb(26, 26, 26)]carbon monoxide that's why you need the alarm

Cappo , that is for the USA.
our furnaces work 10 times as hard due to our 9 month Winters !
Like a Car , a Furnace is all mechanical Operation -Variable frequency drive motors and continuous fan operation -
one pipe for the exhaust products of combustion and one pipe to supply combustion air to the gas burners.
would you still drive a 25 year old Car ? :-\

I took down my alarm the other day because the lady is always shouting "Attention, carbon monoxide" even on summer days when we had all the windows open.
I got irritated and took it down and now I don't even know where I put it. I will have to get a new one .
