No. You condescendingly reduce things to issues of will power. ie - the poor would stop being poor if only they "shaped their lives up", or Africa would be better if the "people were less lazy and corrupt" or "West Indies cricket would be better if the individual players were less selfish" etc etc.

This is the opposite of how the world works. Time and time again, studies show that human behaviour is governed by systems. Systems determine human behaviour, not vice versa. Improve the systems, behaviour changes. Who controls the systems? Not Africans.

In your world, people are not buffeted by external factors. For you, everything is a question of WILL POWER. But will is itself largely a myth. What you do is always contingent upon the external.

Imagine you have ten cricketers, and 1 scores regularly because he works hard. We rightfully praise this individual for his skills and will power. But this will is itself always programmed from outside the individual. It doesn't "originate" with him. It is a confluence of accidents (what philosophers call "determinism"). Similarly, it is almost foreordained that the other 9 cricketers suck. It is not that there is "nothing they can do to stop sucking", but that the factors which leads to someone "stopping sucking" never hits them.

Every cricketer cannot will themselves to be talented. Rather, all talented cricketers are already the only ones programmed by forces to become talented.

Does this mean that everyone is subjected to blind fate? No. You can reduce cricketers sucking. You do this by creating order, structure and training camps, thereby reducing chance. You create systems. You create level playing fields.

In Africa, such systems are deliberately destroyed.

I never said Africans are lazy.

And they have a hell of a lot more problems than being poor.

Poverty is the least of Africa's problems.

I wasn't implying that you literally said that. I was pointing out that you repeatedly blame victims for "their actions".

Regarding idolatry, I do think most African leaders do rely on a cult of personality and the stupidity/brainwashing of followers who idolize them (but you could say that about any world leader). In many African countries you have the opposite too; the leaders are bitterly hated by the masses, but are nevertheless protected by force.

Largely by France, the US, UK, Belgium, the IMF and World Bank.

A quick example. When Congo became independent, the locals elected a guy called Patrice Lumumba. A educated, smart, well spoken young man. 35 years old. A Mandela figure. He opposed Belgium splitting Congo in two and keeping a section with all the local resources. All the locals agreed with him. The Brits and Americans kill him, put in place their own guys, and spend the next half century arming warlords and using the country to produce cheap rubber and plastics. The country is a mess. How would Congo have evolved if everyone kept out and left it alone? We already know. Places like Barbados, Mauritius and Trinidad are good examples of what nations look like when free from Imperialism for half a century (though Trinidad's oil is still more or less "controled" by outsiders). Places like Haiti and Jamaica are examples of what West Indian islands look like when Empires are slow to leave, or in Haitis case, refuse to leave. Cuba is what an island looks like when someone dares to resist Empire; you will be embargoed and cut off from the world.

They replace good leaders like Patrice Lambumba, Kwame Nkrumah, Gamal Abdul Naseer  with dictators like Mobutu sere seko    and puppets like  Anwar Sadat

Human behavior is governed by systems? Should it be? Isn't behavior your own property that should be governed by you?

Systems determine human behavior? No. Human behavior determines systems.

Improve the system, behavior changes? I go along with that. But I don't have the same system in mind that you do.

Who Controls the systems? Not Africans?

"Outsiders cannot dictate to us, this is our country," he said. "I advise friends from the West not to make this an issue, because if they make it an issue the more they will lose."

Okay, and here's what they do to gays in Uganda:

Fucking burn them alive in the street. Looks like they're controlling their system the way they want to me.
