Longest Reigning Monarch Queen Elizabeth II

Completing 63 years spent on the throne, Queen Elizabeth II becomes the longest reigning Monarch of UK. She however still ranks 48th on global count.  She herself claims to be a beneficiary of a long life. The event was celebrated publicly in Scotland and other parts of UK.

Commissioned in 1887 to mark the Golden Jubilee, this Queen Victoria statue was unveiled in 1894

outside the law courts in Georgetown, Guyana.

More than half a century later, in 1954, the statue was dynamited in an act of anti-colonial protest :

and its head and left hand were blown off.  :-[
